Mit" De hillige Nacht" schafft Claus Woschenko (* 1979) ein eindrucksvolles Vokalwerk, das traditionelle Weihnachtsklänge mit der besonderen Schönheit der plattdeutschen Sprache verbindet. Das Werk folgt der traditionellen Dramaturgie eines Weihnachtsoratoriums: Soli, Rezitative und Choräle stehen im Wechselspiel und erzählen die Weihnachtsgeschichte in eindrucksvoller musikalischer Form. Dabei erklingen bekannte Choräle wie „Makt hoch de Döör (Macht hoch die Tür)“, „Kümmet, ji Harders (Kommet, ihr Hirten)“ uvm. und verleihen der Komposition dadurch einen vertrauten, festlichen Charakter. Claus Woschenkos Komposition zeichnet sich durch eine farbenreiche, harmonische Klangwelt aus, die modern daherkommt und gleichzeitig zugänglich bleibt. Seine Musik verbindet zeitgenössische Ausdrucksformen mit einer emotionalen Wärme des Weihnachtsfestes. Durch raffinierte Instrumentation und klangliche Nuancen schafft er eine Atmosphäre, die festlich, aber nicht überladen wirkt – modern, ohne dabei dissonant zu sein. Die Musik strahlt eine behagliche Tiefe aus, die sowohl den Texten als auch der festlichen Stimmung gerecht wird. Der Komponist nutzt zudem die klangvolle, vokalreiche Schönheit der plattdeutschen Sprache, die Zeugnis eines grenzübergreifenden Kulturraums im nördlichen Europa ist. Diese Sprache, die sich hervorragend vertonen und singen lässt, verleiht dem Oratorium eine besondere Ausdruckskraft. Pearls of classical music arranged for organ by Hans-Dieter Karras In 2021, the organ was named ‘Instrument of the Year’. To mark the occasion, Hans-Dieter Karras selected a compilation that is now being released as ‘Festliches für Orgel’ (Festive Music for Organ). It is deliberately not scientific or performance-oriented literature. Rather, it consists of arrangements of classical music masterpieces that are well suited to the organ. The selection covers a wide range, from Pierre de la Rue's ‘Tous les regres’ to Johann S. A new issue of the Praestant series presents organ works by Edouard Batiste. Edouard Batiste lived from 1820-1876 and was an organist in Paris. In this edition, Günter Kaluza has compiled a collection of shorter organ works by the French Romantic composer, which are ideally suited for use in church services due to their effect and ease of playing. This collection consists of a small selection of French manual organ works from the 17th century and the first half of the 18th century. This selection has been created in the course of many years of practice in church services. This work was written for the 3rd Bach Week 1977 of the Collegium musicum Regensburg and premiered by Hermann Baumann in Regensburg Cathedral. The selection includes original horn parts from Bach's rich cantata oeuvre, as well as vocal parts that are suitable in terms of melodic style and timbre. The organ in the church year - Advent | Christmas The Organis Cantatibus series presents organ pieces in several booklets, one group of which is selected according to the festive circles and special themes of the church year; other groups with free preludes, interludes and postludes are arranged according to musical points of view. The level of difficulty of the selected pieces ranges from ‘easy’ to ‘quite difficult’. No special pedalling skills are required. Nicolas Le Bègue (1631–1702) is one of the most important organists and composers of the early French Baroque period. As court organist at the French royal court, he influenced an entire generation of musicians, including the young François Couperin. His works are characterised by delicate ornamentation, clear structures and a festive, meditative character. Nicolas Le Bègue published several Christmas pieces in his third ‘Livre d'Orgue’, which, with their lively alternation of folk melodies and spirited variations, are among the most beautiful of their kind. The three Christmas pieces presented here – originally composed for keyboard instruments – have been sensitively arranged for trumpet and organ by Eberhard Kraus (1931-2003). In this instrumentation, they unfold their full sonic splendour and are ideal for the musical accompaniment of festive church services or Christmas concerts. Content: 1. Puer nobis nascitur 2. Günter Kaluza brings together original manualiter organ works from the 18th and 19th centuries in the 7th volume of the Praestant series. All of the composers spent part of their lives in Philadelphia/Pennsylvania. The pieces are also available individually as pdf files. In each of the organ works included, the overall sound of all stops is required in one or more places. The edition contains works by Boëllmann, Dubois, Gigout, Lemmens and Saint-Saëns. The selected composers once caused a furore in Paris, but are increasingly being forgotten.

César Franck's works have been enjoying growing popularity for several years and are increasingly finding their way into organ concert programmes. Günter Kaluza's edition makes lesser-known pieces from César Franck's oeuvre available in a practical edition. The works were probably composed before 1860, but bear Franck's unmistakable compositional signature.
