Introductory Exercises and Short Pieces

This method introduces guitar students progressively to playing in different positions on the guitar through a series of introductory exercises and short pieces. It is intended primarily as a supplement to and extension of standard guitar methods, which tend to focus extensively on first-position playing while devoting comparatively little attention to playing in other positions.
To make the material more appealing to students, at the heart of the method are student–teacher guitar duets. The student’s deliberately simple guitar part is musically supported and sustained by the teacher’s playing, providing a musical framework in which the student can gradually become familiar with playing in different positions.
