Vrouyr Mazmanian’s Caprice Flamenco is a capriccio for guitar in the Malagueña style. The work combines a stylistic orientation towards a Spanish dance and guitar tradition with the technical resources of the classical guitar. A contemporary repertoire description classifies the composition as being of intermediate difficulty.
Vrouyr Mazmanian (b. 1904 in Ruse, Bulgaria) was a guitarist and pedagogue of Armenian heritage. Following his studies and artistic activities in Paris, where he studied with, among others, Jacques Tessarech and Emilio Pujol, he settled in Beirut, where he devoted himself to the advancement of guitar playing and education. Caprice Flamenco is one of his original compositions.
