The “dumb it down” series offers simplified piano accompaniments to works for violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, and other instruments. Johann Baptist Vanhal (1739–1813) was a Bohemian composer of the Viennese Classical period and a contemporary of Haydn and Mozart. His Concerto in D major for double bass and orchestra is part of the double bass repertoire; this simplified version for double bass and piano is in C major and is arranged for the orchestral tuning (E–A–D–G).
